Our client is Spanish base freelance animator who has 15 happy years of experience in the Animation Industry working as a 3D Character Animator, Layout Artist (Digital Cinematographer), Headhunter, and Artist Coach. As Headhunter, he has collaborated in the creation of the teams for 5 feature films and 1 series, helping more than 400 artists to be placed in a job in more than 9 years of doing this work.
Our client Alex, was an experienced freelance animator with over 15 years of experience. He wanted a small but unique portfolio website for him where he can showcase his skills and work online. He wanted to digitize his work and online presence. So he came up with the decision to make a website for himself. He aimed to use newer technologies that should be fast, easy to maintain, and follow the latest web application standard UI & UX.
While evaluating the requirements and interviewing the client, we came up with a decision that we need to launch the website in Alex’s native language Spanish. As he wanted to target the local community and inspire them, he wanted the website to be in Spanish as it would be easy for the locals to understand. We chose the theme and got it approved by him. He collaborated with our team and helped him to set up auto-translation from Spanish to English.
Understanding the domain and application’s requirements during our discovery process drove us into very important decisions. We chose the theme and got it approved right away from our client. We made important decisions in the UI Designs, Technology selections, and Architecture of the website. We all agreed on using WordPress as the base technology for this project with MySQL DB as the database. We define some goals for ourselves after doing some meetings with our clients. One goal was to increase engagement and the length of time visitors spent on the website. The second goal was to give people a reason to come back to the site, increasing the number of returning visitors. Another goal was to make the site SEO-friendly so Google can index the website quickly and easily.
With the design wire-frame ready, we jump right into building the front end. Using Alex's guidelines, we designed the look and the feel of the website to be consistent and to be matched with Alex’s persona. While building the website the core focus was to set it up in a way that should follow all the standards of modern websites. The project timeline was set up and scattered into weeks resulting in a build each week with a checklist of completed features to the client. We developed the site using the latest technology so that visitors would have a great experience across all devices - whether they're viewing it on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
The newly launched site allowed visitors to find what they were looking for, whether they were looking for mentor-ship, whether they wanted to contact Alex or they were just looking for some inspiration. Once we were certain that there was no interim, we showed it to our client. He conducted his own testing on his end and gave us his feedback. After some minor tweaks, after everyone was satisfied, we moved the website onto a live platform for users to enjoy.
